Ghaziabad– A major fire erupted in a residential high-rise at Gaur Green Avenue on Wednesday morning, engulfing several flats and triggering a large-scale firefighting operation.
According to officials, the blaze started in an apartment on the ninth floor before rapidly spreading to the tenth and eleventh levels of the building. Fire department teams were immediately deployed to the site, with multiple fire tenders working to bring the situation under control.
Chief Fire Officer Rahul Pal said that around five to six flats were affected by the fire. Firefighters had to break open doors to access the apartments and prevent further spread of flames.
Thick smoke billowed from the building and was visible from a considerable distance, causing alarm among residents and commuters in the surrounding areas, including those travelling along nearby expressways.
As of now, no casualties or injuries have been reported. Authorities stated that the priority remains containing the fire and ensuring the safety of residents.
Officials added that the exact cause of the fire will be determined only after the blaze is completely extinguished and a detailed investigation is carried out.
The incident has once again raised concerns over fire safety measures in high-rise residential complexes.
