Bhopal/New Delhi: Union Minister for Agriculture and Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Sunday launched PMGSY-IV during the 25-year celebrations of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) held in Bhairunda of Madhya Pradesh’s Sehore district. In the presence of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, the Union Minister announced major development projects and financial approvals related to rural roads, housing and infrastructure for the state.
During the programme, Madhya Pradesh received approvals worth ₹1,763 crore under PMGSY-IV for 973 rural roads covering more than 2,117 kilometres. The projects are expected to improve connectivity for nearly 987 habitations across the state. The Vidisha parliamentary region separately received approval for 259 roads spanning over 600 kilometres.


Addressing the gathering, Shivraj Singh Chouhan said rural roads are not just routes for transportation but gateways to prosperity, education, healthcare and employment opportunities. He stated that the Narendra Modi-led government is committed to ensuring development reaches villages, farmers, women and the poor.
The Union Minister also announced approvals worth ₹261.81 crore under the PM-JANMAN initiative for road projects in backward and underserved regions. In addition, Madhya Pradesh received ₹830 crore from the Centre’s PMGSY allocation for the financial year 2026-27.
Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G), Chouhan handed over sanctions worth ₹2,055 crore to the Madhya Pradesh government. He said the government is determined to ensure that no eligible poor family remains without a permanent house.

Speaking on women empowerment, the minister said the Lakhpati Didi campaign would be expanded further through self-help groups to strengthen women’s financial independence and income opportunities. He also assured that farmers would not face injustice during wheat procurement and promised a more farmer-friendly approach in land acquisition matters.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav said the Madhya Pradesh government is working in close coordination with the Centre and assured that all practical development demands raised by the public and elected representatives would be addressed.
The event also featured awards for states delivering outstanding performance under PMGSY over the last 25 years. Madhya Pradesh secured first place in the category of highest road length completed under the scheme with more than 90,000 kilometres of rural roads constructed.
