Rajnath Singh to Hold Defence Talks With Italian Counterpart Guido Crosetto in New Delhi

India and Italy set to deepen strategic military cooperation with focus on defence industry partnership and regional security

New Delhi, April 29, 2026: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh is scheduled to hold bilateral discussions with Italy’s Defence Minister Guido Crosetto in New Delhi on April 30, as both countries seek to further strengthen defence cooperation and strategic engagement.

The upcoming meeting is expected to cover a wide range of defence related issues, including expansion of military collaboration, industrial partnerships and broader strategic cooperation. Both leaders are also likely to exchange views on evolving regional and global security developments.

Officials noted that defence relations between India and Italy have gained significant momentum since Rajnath Singh’s visit to Rome in 2023, which laid the groundwork for stronger bilateral military engagement. Crosetto’s first official visit to India is being viewed as a major step in advancing this partnership.

A key area of focus is expected to be defence industrial collaboration, with both sides exploring new opportunities for cooperation in manufacturing, technology sharing and strategic capability building.

The strengthening of India’s broader strategic partnership with the European Union earlier this year has also contributed to greater convergence between New Delhi and Rome on defence and security priorities.
