New Delhi, Mar 5, 2025: Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed confidence that Artificial Intelligence (AI) could add lakhs of crores to India’s economy. To support AI-driven education and research, the government has allocated ₹500 crore in the Union Budget.
Speaking at a post-Budget webinar on employment, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of AI in shaping India’s future. “To unlock AI’s full potential, India will establish a National Large Language Model,” he announced. He also urged the private sector to stay ahead in AI advancements, highlighting that the world is looking for a reliable, safe, and democratic country to offer cost-effective AI solutions.
Discussing key decisions in the Budget 2025-26 aimed at job creation, PM Modi introduced the PM Internship Scheme, designed to provide young professionals with hands-on experience and practical skills, boosting employment opportunities.
On the healthcare front, he highlighted the government’s commitment to medical education. “This year’s Budget has sanctioned 10,000 additional medical seats, with a target of increasing medical field capacity by 75,000 seats over the next five years,” he stated.
Speaking on the economy, PM Modi cited an IMF report, noting that between 2015 and 2025, India’s economy has expanded by 66%. “India is now a $3.8 trillion economy, surpassing many major global economies. The day is not far when we will achieve the $5 trillion economy milestone,” he asserted.
With AI innovation, employment-focused schemes, and economic growth initiatives, the government aims to position India as a global leader in the digital and economic landscape.
