New Delhi, Feb 8, 2025: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader and former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Saturday conceded defeat in the Jangpura assembly constituency, as BJP’s Tarvinder Singh Marwah emerged victorious.
According to data from the Election Commission, Marwah maintained a narrow lead over Sisodia, with a margin of 572 votes after the ninth round of counting. By 12:41 PM, Marwah had secured 34,632 votes, while Sisodia garnered 34,060 votes. Congress candidate Farhad Suri trailed behind with 6,866 votes.
When asked by reporters whether the result was final, Sisodia confirmed his defeat. Reflecting on the outcome, he stated that he would analyze the reasons behind the loss at a later stage.
“Our party workers fought well. We all worked hard, and people supported us. But I lost by 600 votes. I congratulate the winning candidate and hope he will work for the betterment of the constituency,” Sisodia said.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) appears set for a significant victory in the Delhi Assembly elections, leading in 48 out of 70 seats, while AAP is ahead in 22. Several key AAP leaders, including Arvind Kejriwal and Saurabh Bharadwaj, are trailing in their respective constituencies.
Meanwhile, BJP workers celebrated outside the party’s headquarters in New Delhi, bursting firecrackers, dancing, and chanting slogans in anticipation of a historic win.
