Bihar Showcases Rich Heritage of Knowledge, Peace, and Eco-Tourism in Republic Day Tableau

Bihar’s Republic Day 2025 tableau celebrates Nalanda’s legacy, the 70-foot Buddha statue at Ghora Katora, and innovative eco-tourism, blending heritage with sustainability.

New Delhi, January 22, 2025: Bihar, celebrated as the land of knowledge, salvation, and peace, has unveiled a stunning tableau for this year’s Republic Day celebrations, emphasizing its cultural heritage and forward-looking initiatives. The tableau highlights the ancient glory of Nalanda, renowned worldwide for its legacy of knowledge, and showcases modern innovations that strengthen Bihar’s identity as a hub of education, peace, and eco-tourism.

The centerpiece of the tableau is the depiction of the ruins of Nalanda, an ancient university that stood as a beacon of knowledge. The tableau also features the International Nalanda University, inaugurated on June 19, 2024, by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the presence of Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Built in Rajgir, this state-of-the-art campus mirrors the architectural brilliance of ancient Nalanda while standing as a carbon-neutral and Net Zero facility, representing Bihar’s commitment to sustainability and global leadership in education.

Another highlight of the tableau is the 70-foot monolithic statue of Lord Buddha, situated at Ghora Katora Lake, Rajgir. This statue, a symbol of peace, attracts millions of tourists every year. The lake and its surroundings have been developed as an eco-tourism destination, blending Bihar’s efforts in cultural preservation with environmental sustainability.

Shri Deepak Anand, Secretary of the Department of Tourism, Bihar, emphasized that the tableau encapsulates the state’s enduring message of peace and knowledge while showcasing its innovative strides in education and eco-tourism. He said, “Bihar’s tableau reflects our proud past and ambitious future, with a focus on preserving heritage and promoting sustainability.”

Bihar’s Republic Day tableau underscores its rich cultural legacy, including its contributions to ancient knowledge systems, environmental stewardship, and modern educational innovation. During this, Joint Director Ravi Bhushan Sahay IPRD, Bihar, Deputy Director Dinesh Kumar Bihar Information Centre, New Delhi and many other dignitaries were present.
