Bihar Day celebrated with vibrant folk music performances at IITF’s Bharat Mandapam

New Delhi: The vibrant evening of the India International Trade Fair 2024 held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi turned into a spectacular celebration of Bihar’s rich cultural heritage on Sunday. An engaging cultural event Bihar Day was organised at the Bihar Mandap, which featured several captivating folk songs from the state. The evening began with the official inauguration by lighting the lamp by Nitish Mishra, Minister of Industry and Tourism, Bihar.

 

This was followed by captivating performances by five renowned folk artists, showcasing glimpses of Bhojpuri, Maithili, Magahi and Angika music. Artists including Neetu Kumari Navgeet, Satyendra Kumar Sangeet, Amar Anand, Neetu Kumari Nutan and Usha Singh gave a mesmerizing musical experience. Renowned folk singer Neetu Kumari Navgeet stole the show with her soulful renditions of traditional wedding songs like “Bata Da Babua Logwa Det Kahe Gaari”, “Dagriya Joth Na Ho Bitat Baate Athphariya Ho” by Bhikhari Thakur, and other popular tunes like “Piya Gayile Kalkatwa Ae Sajni” and “Patna Se Baida Bulaai Da”.

The audience was further enthralled with tracks like “Paninaya Ke Jahaj Se Palatniya”, “Koyal Bina Bagiya Na Sobhe Raja”, and “Kahe Tose Sajna Tohri Sajniya”, which painted a vivid picture of the cultural vibrancy of Bihar. Bhola Verma on tabla, Shashi Bhushan Jha on keyboard, Haribhushan Jha on dholak, Manoj Kumar Yadav on percussion pad, and Kumar Paras on banjo gave impeccable performances.

The harmonious coordination added a magical aura to the event. The cultural evening organised by Rupam Trivikram became a testimony to the rich musical traditions of Bihar, which left the audience spellbound and proud of the artistic heritage of the state.
