No proof, no charges: Shraddha Kapoor, Nora Fatehi and Orry set to walk free in 2022 Mumbai drugs case

Police find no evidence linking celebrities; names may be dropped from supplementary chargesheet

Mumbai: Actor Shraddha Kapoor and Nora Fatehi are expected to get relief in the 2022 Mumbai drugs case, with the Mumbai Police reportedly finding no evidence against them.

According to sources, the police’s Anti-Narcotics Cell has completed its investigation and is preparing to file a supplementary chargesheet. The report suggests that the names of several public figures, including Siddhant Kapoor, Orhan Awatramani, and politician Zeeshan Siddiqui, may also be excluded due to lack of evidence.

The case dates back to 2022, when alleged drug trafficker Mohammad Salim Mohammad Suhail Shaikh was arrested for supplying banned substances, including mephedrone, reportedly linked to party circuits in Mumbai and Dubai. During questioning, he had named several celebrities, leading to further investigation and questioning of some individuals in 2025.

However, officials now indicate that there is insufficient material to establish any direct connection between the celebrities and the alleged drug network. The upcoming supplementary chargesheet is expected to focus only on the accused against whom evidence has been established.

Reacting to the development, Orhan Awatramani, popularly known as Orry, expressed his frustration on social media over the earlier allegations, criticising what he described as sensational coverage that affected his reputation.

The case had drawn significant public attention when it first surfaced, as it involved well-known figures from the entertainment industry. With the latest findings, investigators appear to be narrowing the focus strictly to individuals directly linked to the alleged drug supply operations.
