Washington: A social media post shared by former US President Donald Trump, featuring an AI-generated image portraying him in a role resembling Jesus Christ, has been taken down after sparking widespread criticism.

The image, originally posted on his platform Truth Social, appeared to show Trump performing a healing act, drawing strong reactions from both critics and supporters. Many viewed the depiction as inappropriate, particularly among religious communities who felt the imagery crossed a sensitive boundary.

Several prominent conservative voices also expressed disapproval. Critics argued that the portrayal risked trivialising religious beliefs and called for the post to be removed.
