Akshay Kumar Calls ‘Bhooth Bangla’ a Tribute to Late Asrani, Gets Emotional Remembering Comic Legend

Actor says film is a heartfelt salute to “comedy ke ustad” Asrani

Mumbai April 15 2026: Actor Akshay Kumar has expressed deep emotion while remembering veteran comedian Govardhan Asrani, calling his upcoming film Bhooth Bangla a tribute to the legendary actor’s contribution to Indian comedy.

Sharing a post along with a still from the film’s set, Akshay Kumar recalled his long association with Asrani and described him as a “masterclass in comedy,” saying he learned something new from him in every collaboration. He noted that they had worked together in multiple films over the years.

The actor said that comedy may look effortless on screen, but it is one of the most difficult art forms, adding that Asrani excelled at it and will always be remembered as a master of the craft. He described Bhooth Bangla not just as a film but as a personal tribute and emotional farewell to the late actor.

Asrani, who passed away in 2025 after a prolonged illness, was widely celebrated for his iconic comic roles in Indian cinema. Akshay Kumar emphasized that his legacy continues to inspire generations of actors.

Bhooth Bangla, directed by Priyadarshan, is a horror comedy featuring Akshay Kumar along with Wamiqa Gabbi, Tabu, Paresh Rawal and Rajpal Yadav. The film is scheduled for release on April 17 with early paid previews beginning April 16.
