Bhopal, May 7 , 2024 : Around 14.22 percent of 1,77,52,583 voters participated in the first two hours of voting on Tuesday in the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections in nine Madhya Pradesh parliamentary seats. Voting began at 7 am and the vote percentage has been released until 9 am. Around 16.43 percent votes were cast in Guna, 11.05 in
Gwalior, 15.97 in Betul, 12.23 in Bhind, 13.61 in Bhopal, 12.43 in Morena, 16.57 in Rajgarh, 15.85 in Vidisha and 14.58 percent in Sagar. The fate of a total of 127 candidates is at stake in these nine constituencies, including Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan and senior Congress
leader Digvijay Singh. Nine women are also included among the candidates. Voting got underway in over 20,000 polling stations at 7 am and will continue till 6 pm at most places amid scorching heat.Before the start of voting, mock poll proceedings were conducted from 5.30 am. According to the office of the Chief Electoral Officer of the state, till 6 pm, a total of 1,77,52,583 voters will be able to exercise their franchise, which includes 92,68,987 men and 84,83,105 women. A total of 491 voters belong to other category. For the third phase, the Commission has created 20, 456 polling stations, out of which 101 are also auxiliary polling stations. A total of 5,744 polling stations have been marked as critical polling stations. At least 585 vulnerable areas have been identified, 1,746 potential troublemakers have been identified, and preventive action has been taken against them. In this phase, all eyes are mainly on Guna, Vidisha, and Rajgarh parliamentary constituencies, from where Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia (BJP), former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan (BJP) and former Chief Minister Digvijay Singh (Congress) are contesting, respectively. Scindia’s main contest in Guna is Congress’s Rao Yadvendra Singh, while in BJP’s stronghold Vidisha, Congress has placed its bet on sitting MP Rodmal Nagar against Pratapbhanu Sharma and from Rajgarh against Singh. A maximum of 22 candidates are in the fray from Bhopal parliamentary constituency, and the least seven candidates are from Bhind constituency. Necessary security arrangements have been made to conduct the voting in a fair and uninterrupted manner. Voting has been proposed in a total of four phases in Madhya Pradesh. After the third phase on Tuesday, voting in the remaining eight parliamentary constituencies will be held in the fourth phase on May 13.
