Argentina Ambassador Thanks Indian Fans for Unwavering Support After FIFA World Cup 2026

New Delhi: Argentina’s Ambassador to India, Mariano Caucino, has expressed heartfelt appreciation to Indian football fans for their unwavering support during the FIFA World Cup 2026, despite Argentina falling short in the tournament’s final.

In a message shared on social media after the championship match, the envoy thanked supporters across India for standing firmly behind the Argentine national team throughout its World Cup journey. His message reflected the strong bond that has developed between Indian football enthusiasts and Argentina, especially following Lionel Messi‘s historic World Cup triumph in 2022.

Caucino acknowledged the affection shown by Indian fans during the tournament and said their encouragement had once again demonstrated the deep connection between the two nations through football.

Argentina entered the competition as the defending champions and reached a second consecutive FIFA World Cup final. However, their hopes of retaining the title ended after Spain secured a 1-0 extra-time victory in the championship clash.

The only goal of the final came in the 106th minute, when Ferran Torres found the net to seal Spain’s second FIFA World Cup crown and their first global title since 2010.

Throughout the match, Spain controlled much of the possession and created several scoring opportunities, while Argentine goalkeeper Emiliano Martínez produced a series of important saves to keep his side in contention.
