Pune, June 18, 2026: Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw, along with Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, inaugurated Jabil Inc.’s advanced manufacturing facility at Ranjangaon, Pune, marking a major step towards strengthening India’s electronics manufacturing ecosystem and technology exports.
The newly inaugurated facility focuses on high-end electronics manufacturing and is designed to support the rapidly expanding demand for artificial intelligence infrastructure, data centres, 5G networks and advanced technology systems. The project is expected to generate significant employment opportunities while integrating Indian suppliers and micro, small and medium enterprises into global technology value chains.
Addressing the gathering, Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted the growing importance of artificial intelligence as a driver of global economic transformation. He said that AI data centres are emerging as one of the biggest growth engines worldwide, making it essential for India to develop domestic capabilities in manufacturing the critical electronic components required for these systems.
The Minister emphasised that the facility represents the vision of strengthening domestic production under the Make in India initiative. He noted that manufacturing advanced data centre equipment within India would not only meet domestic technology requirements but also position the country as a reliable supplier for global markets.
The Pune facility will manufacture a wide range of advanced electronic products, including AI-enabled data centre systems, 5G infrastructure equipment, high-end networking solutions, industrial power electronics and consumer technology products.
With modern manufacturing capabilities and a large-scale operational footprint, the facility is expected to support both domestic consumption and international exports. The project aims to expand employment opportunities for nearly 11,000 people while promoting deeper localisation of supply chains.
The Union Minister stated that India’s electronics manufacturing sector has witnessed remarkable growth in recent years. A sector that was once considered highly challenging has now become one of the country’s major export contributors due to focused policy initiatives, investment support and industry participation.
Electronics manufacturing in India has reached an estimated value of ₹13 lakh crore, reflecting the country’s rising capabilities in technology production. Electronics exports have also expanded significantly, moving among the top export categories and becoming the third-largest export segment in 2025.
Ashwini Vaishnaw credited the transformation to sustained policy efforts aimed at creating a complete electronics ecosystem, including component manufacturing, finished products, skilled workforce development and strong domestic supply networks.
He said the next phase of growth would require continued collaboration between the central government, state governments, industries and young professionals to improve quality standards and make India one of the leading global destinations for advanced manufacturing.
The Minister also stressed the importance of developing specialised talent and strengthening skill-building programmes to support high-precision manufacturing. He said the government would continue investing in training, innovation and industrial infrastructure to prepare India for the future technology economy.
Maharashtra’s role as a major industrial and technology hub was also highlighted during the event. The establishment of such advanced facilities in the state is expected to further enhance Pune’s position as a centre for innovation, manufacturing and global business operations.
The inauguration of Jabil’s facility reflects India’s broader ambition to become a major player in the global electronics and semiconductor supply chain while creating new opportunities for employment, investment and technological growth.
