Dharmendra Pradhan Reviews NEET UG Re-Examination Preparations, Stresses Transparency and Fair Conduct

Education Ministry, NTA and states coordinate security, logistics and student support measures ahead of June 21 exam

New Delhi, June 18, 2026: Union Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan chaired a high-level review meeting to assess the preparedness for the NEET UG re-examination scheduled on June 21, 2026, directing all concerned agencies to ensure a fair, transparent and smooth examination process.

The meeting was attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Education, state governments, the National Testing Agency (NTA) and higher educational institutions. The discussions focused on examination arrangements, security measures, coordination mechanisms and ensuring that candidates face minimal inconvenience during the re-examination.

Addressing the meeting, Dharmendra Pradhan emphasised that maintaining the highest standards of integrity, transparency and efficiency must remain the top priority throughout the examination process. He instructed officials to remain alert and ensure that every necessary arrangement is completed well in advance.

The Minister stressed the importance of coordinated efforts between central and state authorities for the successful conduct of the examination. He informed that officers appointed by the Ministry would visit different states to coordinate preparations and work closely with the NTA Command Centre headed by the Director General of NTA.

He also directed state nodal officers to ensure that students receive all required facilities and appear for the examination in a calm and stress-free environment.

Secretary, Department of School Education and Literacy, Sanjay Kumar highlighted the need to prioritise student convenience at examination centres. He said arrangements such as proper seating, drinking water facilities and a supportive environment should be ensured so that candidates can focus on their performance.

Secretary, Department of Higher Education, Vineet Joshi said the period before the examination is crucial and requires proactive coordination among all stakeholders. He emphasised timely communication, strict implementation of guidelines and close monitoring of preparations.

NTA Director General Abhishek Singh informed the meeting that the agency is working with district-level coordination committees, state police departments and security agencies to ensure the examination is conducted without disruption.

The meeting included detailed discussions on examination centre readiness, security protocols, logistical planning, grievance redressal systems and adherence to established examination guidelines. States and Union Territories were advised to maintain continuous communication with all stakeholders.

Officials also discussed measures to strengthen confidence among students and parents by ensuring that every process related to the re-examination remains transparent and accountable.

The review meeting was conducted in hybrid mode and saw participation from over 200 representatives, including senior officials from states and Union Territories, centrally funded institutions, universities and educational bodies across the country.

Representatives assured complete cooperation and commitment towards conducting the examination smoothly. Authorities said all necessary steps are being taken to provide candidates with a safe, fair and hassle-free experience during the NEET UG re-examination.
