New Delhi, June 2: President of India Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday encouraged young people from tribal communities to harness the power of education and technology while remaining connected to their cultural roots, stating that they have a crucial role to play in building a strong, prosperous and self-reliant India.
The President made these remarks while interacting with beneficiaries of flagship scholarship schemes run by the Ministry of Tribal Affairs at Rashtrapati Bhavan.
Addressing the students, President Murmu said India possesses immense talent across its villages, remote regions and tribal areas. She noted that with proper guidance, opportunities and support, young individuals from these communities can achieve excellence and contribute significantly to the nation’s progress.
Highlighting the importance of government scholarship programmes, the President said such initiatives go beyond financial assistance and serve as instruments that help transform aspirations into reality. According to her, scholarships create opportunities for talented students who may otherwise face barriers due to limited resources.
The President described education as one of the most powerful tools for empowerment, enabling individuals to become self-reliant, informed and capable of bringing positive change to society. Reflecting on her own journey, she said education had played a pivotal role in shaping her life and career.
She urged the beneficiaries to become role models for children from disadvantaged backgrounds, demonstrating that determination and hard work can overcome obstacles. She emphasized that true national development becomes possible when successful individuals help uplift others along the way.
Calling the youth the nation’s greatest strength and hope for the future, President Murmu advised students from tribal communities not to lose touch with their heritage and traditions as they advance in their careers and education.
She said that by combining modern knowledge, technological advancement and pride in their cultural identity, young Indians can contribute meaningfully to the vision of a developed India by 2047. The President expressed confidence that the country’s youth would play a central role in achieving the goal of a Viksit Bharat and making a positive impact in every field they choose to pursue.
The interaction at Rashtrapati Bhavan highlighted the government’s continued focus on expanding educational opportunities and empowering tribal youth through targeted scholarship programmes and capacity-building initiatives.
