New Delhi, May 7, 2026: Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to the Indian armed forces on the first anniversary of Operation Sindoor, praising their courage, discipline and determined action against terrorism. He said the operation became a symbol of India’s strong stand on national security and its uncompromising fight against terror networks.
Recalling the military action carried out after the attack on innocent civilians in Pahalgam, the Prime Minister stated that the armed forces delivered a powerful and decisive response to the perpetrators. He noted that the operation demonstrated the high level of readiness, coordination and strategic capability of India’s defence forces.
The Prime Minister also highlighted the increasing cooperation among the Army, Navy and Air Force during the mission. According to him, the success of the operation reflected the benefits of India’s growing self reliance in the defence sector, which has strengthened the country’s security framework.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment against terrorism, Modi said India remains fully determined to eliminate terror and dismantle every support system linked to it. He added that the nation continues to take pride in the bravery and dedication shown by the armed forces during Operation Sindoor.
As part of the anniversary tribute, the Prime Minister appealed to citizens across the country to change their display pictures on social media platforms in honour of the armed forces. He encouraged people to use the image shared by him as a gesture of gratitude and solidarity with the nation’s defenders.
