Indian LPG Carrier Nanda Devi Reaches Gujarat After Safe Hormuz Passage

Nanda Devi LPG Carrier Reaches Gujarat Safely via Hormuz, Eases India Supply Concerns

New Delhi | March 17, 2026: The Indian-flagged vessel Nanda Devi has successfully arrived at Vadinar Port carrying around 46,500 metric tonnes of liquefied petroleum gas  (LPG), providing a boost to the country’s energy supply. The ship completed its journey after safely navigating the strategically sensitive Strait of Hormuz amid ongoing tensions in West Asia.

The arrival comes at a critical time when concerns over LPG shortages have been rising across several parts of India. Officials said the cargo will be transferred through ship-to-ship operations before being distributed to meet domestic demand.

This marks the second such successful transit in recent days, following the arrival of another LPG carrier, Shivalik, at a Gujarat port. Together, these shipments are expected to ease supply pressures and stabilise availability in the country.

Authorities highlighted that the safe passage of these vessels underscores India’s efforts to maintain uninterrupted energy supplies despite disruptions in key global shipping routes due to geopolitical tensions.
