New Delhi, March 8: Delhi Police observed International Women’s Day 2026 across the national capital through a wide range of awareness programmes, outreach initiatives and community engagement activities aimed at strengthening women’s safety and empowerment.
Multiple events were organized across various districts and police units in the run-up to the occasion. These included self-defence training sessions, lectures on “Good Touch & Bad Touch”, cyber and social media awareness programmes, health check-up camps, women’s scooty rallies, felicitation ceremonies, and legal awareness sessions to educate women and girls about safety measures and their rights.

In the North-West District, a self-defence training session was conducted at GGS School in Adarsh Nagar where students were taught practical techniques to protect themselves and respond confidently in difficult situations. Awareness programmes under the Parivartan Cell and the Nazuk Scheme were also organized.
The Outer-North District, in collaboration with Pahal NGO, organized a programme at Mahila Park in Rohini’s Sector-18 focusing on women’s empowerment and legal rights. Participants were also sensitized about cyber safety and the Himmat Plus App, a women’s safety application.
In Rohini District, police officials held women’s safety meetings in Prashant Vihar and conducted self-defence training sessions in several schools along with awareness lectures on personal safety.
Across the South District, more than six locations hosted self-defence workshops where women were trained in basic protection techniques and informed about emergency response measures. A “Good Touch and Bad Touch” workshop was also organized at an MCD Primary School in Mandangir Village.
The South-East District organized special workshops at government schools in East of Kailash and conducted cyber awareness drives at Nehru Place Market to educate the public about safe digital practices.
In Dwarka District, self-defence training sessions were held for girl students at a government school in Kakrola. Cyber awareness programmes and lectures on women’s safety and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act were also conducted.


The West District organized self-defence programmes at multiple educational institutions including Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherji College for Women, Punjabi Bagh, where women police officials and students participated in discussions on cybercrime awareness and women’s empowerment.
In the Outer District, a celebration at the DCP Office Complex honoured the achievements of women personnel and included self-defence demonstrations and cyber safety awareness sessions. A poem titled “Naari” highlighting women’s resilience was also recited during the event.
The East District felicitated 26 women police personnel for their exemplary service and honoured four women from the public for their contributions to social welfare.

In the North District, a health check-up camp for women police personnel was organized in coordination with AVee Hospital. A women’s scooty rally was also held from Maurice Nagar to Miranda House, with participation from women officers across several police stations.
Awareness programmes were also conducted across Central, North-East, Shahdara, New Delhi, South-West districts, where police teams educated women and students about cyber safety, emergency helpline numbers, and legal rights. Activities included padyatras, poster competitions, school awareness sessions, and intensified patrolling to strengthen women’s safety.

The Delhi Traffic Police also organized a special road safety awareness programme at the Traffic Training Park on Baba Kharak Singh Marg in collaboration with Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt. Ltd. and Value Life Foundation. The event involved interactive activities to promote safe road behaviour among women, students, and teachers.
Delhi Police stated that it remains committed to ensuring the safety, security, and empowerment of women through continuous awareness campaigns, community outreach programmes and proactive policing initiatives.
