Faridabad: The Ministry of Tourism will launch an online platform for Surajkund International Crafts Mela, allowing artisans to sell handmade products worldwide throughout the year, said Tourism Secretary Dr. Shrivats Krishna. Addressing a press conference at the mela convention hall, he called Surajkund a global launchpad for traditional artisans. “The online platform will give rural craftsmen direct access to international markets.

Tourists are encouraged to support the ‘Vocal for Local’ initiative by purchasing handmade products,” he added. Due to high interest from artisans and visitors, the mela’s duration may be extended from two weeks to four weeks. National award-winning artisans will receive special priority to showcase their skills internationally.
Focusing on infrastructure, Haryana Tourism Commissioner Dr. Amit Agrawal said stalls have been strengthened, CCTV cameras installed, and all arrangements completed. Theme states and countries are selected on a rotational basis from July. Tourists can buy tickets at counters or online via cash, UPI, or digital payment methods. A post-mela review will identify improvements for future editions. Present at the press conference were Haryana Tourism Commissioner and Secretary Dr. Amit Aggarwal, Director Parth Gupta, and Additional Director of the Information, Public Relations and Languages Department, Varsha Khangwal.
