Indian Constitution, Unity, and Border Security are National Duties : Dattatreya Hosabale

RSS Sarkaryavah hoists national flag at Keshav Kunj on 77th Republic Day

NEW DELHI : On the occasion of India’s 77th Republic Day, on Monday, January 26, 2026, Dattatreya Hosabale, General Secretary of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), hoisted the National Flag at Keshav Kunj in Delhi and addressed the gathering. Extending his best wishes to the countrymen on Republic Day, Dattatreya Hosabale said that today we should pledge to uphold India’s eternal spiritual values, civic duties, and our national duty in our lives. Protecting our Constitution, safeguarding India’s unity and integrity, and securing India’s borders are our paramount national duties.

He explained that this year’s Republic Day coincides with the auspicious occasion of Bhishma Ashtami, which makes it even more special. Referring to the life of Bhishma Pitamah from the Mahabharata, he said that the path of Rajdharma (duty of a ruler), Prajadharma (duty of the people), and duty towards the nation shown by Bhishma Pitamah is still relevant today. A life based on character, discipline, and dedication to duty is true Prajadharma, while protecting the virtuous and suppressing evil forces is the fundamental principle of Rajdharma.

Referring to the Tricolor flag, the Ashoka Chakra, and the National mottoes, Hosabale said that the soul of India is based on truth and righteousness. He described “Satyameva Jayate” (Truth alone triumphs) and “Yato Dharmastato Jayah” (Where there is righteousness, there is victory) as the fundamental spirit of Indian governance, justice system, and democracy. He said that protecting the Indian Constitution, protecting the Indian tricolor, and protecting national unity are all based on truth and righteousness. The General Secretary said that what Bhishma taught is the eternal tradition of India. It is relevant even in the modern age and serves as a great example for the world. Therefore, to protect the Republic of India, we must cultivate love, compassion, and affection for society, especially for the weaker sections, and a spirit of service towards them. Shri Hosabale said that in every region and every aspect of life in India, we should strive every moment, with every fiber of our being, to bring about progress. The volunteers of the Sangh have been engaged in this very endeavor for the past hundred years: protecting the Republic of India, serving Indian society, and understanding and being guided by India’s national dharma. This remains an extremely relevant message for us even today. Let us all not only remember this, but also remain continuously active and vigilant in our lives, and move forward to fulfill this duty. May God’s blessings and the grace of Mother India be upon us all.
