New Delhi, 13 January 2026– At Vigyan Bhawan, during the valedictory session of the national conclave ‘Viksit Bharat ka Sankalp aur Yuva’, organised by Hansraj College to mark National Youth Day, the Chief Minister of Delhi,  Rekha Gupta, interacted with young participants alongside the Union Minister of Science and Technology (Independent Charge), Dr Jitendra Singh. Former Union Education Minister  Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ and several other distinguished guests were also present on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister extended her greetings to the youth on National Youth Day and on the festivals of Lohri and Makar Sankranti. She said that she shares a personal association with the University of Delhi and has herself been actively involved in student union activities. For this reason, interacting with students and student representatives is a particularly emotional and inspiring experience for her. She stated that the college and university years constitute the most valuable phase of life, during which confidence, knowledge, friendships and leadership skills are developed, forming a strong foundation for the future.

The Chief Minister said that by imbibing the inspiring ideals of Swami Vivekananda, today’s youth, while remaining rooted in India’s cultural heritage, are confidently addressing global challenges and giving new direction to the nation. She emphasised that in realising the vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ articulated by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the role of young people is paramount, because youth are not only the future of the nation, but also its present.

She urged young people to use technology as a tool and not allow it to dominate their lives. Referring to the growing influence of Artificial Intelligence in the digital age, she advised the youth to ensure that they control technology, rather than technology controlling them.

In her concluding remarks, the Chief Minister called upon the youth to shoulder the responsibility of taking the nation forward with confidence, innovation and energy. She stated that only when development and heritage progress together India will truly be able to assume a leadership role on the global stage.
