Chief Minister Rekha Gupta Flags Off the Sacred Procession on the Martyrdom Day of Guru Tegh Bahadur

The procession will travel from Sisganj Gurdwara to Anandpur Sahib, carrying forward the ideals and message of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji

New Delhi, 25 November 2025 : Delhi Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta today flagged off the grand ‘Hind Ki Chadar’ sacred procession organised on the occasion of the 350th Martyrdom Day of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. The procession will commence from Gurdwara Sisganj Sahib and proceed up to Gurdwara Anandpur Sahib in Punjab. Throughout the journey, devotees will offer their tributes to Guru Ji by reflecting upon his teachings, his ideals, and his unparalleled sacrifice in the defence of faith. On this occasion, the Chief Minister bowed before the entire sangat (devotees) and said that may Guru Ji’s grace always remain upon everyone, and may every life be filled with happiness, prosperity and peace. Before flagging off the bus carrying the procession, she paid obeisance to Guru Sahib, sought his blessings, and conveyed her good wishes to all the travellers.

The Chief Minister said that this historic event not only reminds us of the indomitable courage and sacrifice of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji but also inspires us to follow the path he showed and uphold the values of faith, peace and equality in society. She added that Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji’s sacrifice stands as a beacon of light for the protection of humanity and the values of truth, not just for the Sikh faith alone. He is revered as the ‘Hind Ki Chadar’ because he laid down his life to safeguard the nation’s religious freedom and dignity.

 

The Chief Minister appealed to all devotees and citizens to spread the message of brotherhood and tolerance in society by following Guru Ji’s ideals. Extending her best wishes, she said that may Guru Ji’s blessings always remain upon everyone, and may every life be filled with happiness, prosperity and peace. The gathering echoed with spirited chants of “Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh” as the procession moved forward.
