New Delhi, 29 September 2025– In a major step towards a drug-free capital, Delhi Police conducted a Mega Drug Destruction Event today at Biotic Waste Solutions Pvt. Ltd., GT Karnal Road, New Delhi. The event aligns with the ongoing campaign to achieve a “Drug-Free Delhi by 2027”, guided by the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Vinai Kumar Saxena, who attended the event along with CP Delhi, Satish Golchha, IPS, and other senior officials. This initiative also forms part of the nationwide “Drug Vinishtikaran Pakhwada” organized by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Ministry of Home Affairs.

During the event, Delhi Police destroyed a total of 1,847 kilograms of drugs, including cannabis, charas, heroin, cocaine, amphetamine, and Tramadol & Alprazolam tablets, seized from various districts of the city. The confiscated drugs have an estimated international market value of ₹35 crore. Over the past three years, under the “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan”, Delhi Police has destroyed large quantities of narcotics worth approximately ₹13,796 crore in the international market, demonstrating the department’s unwavering commitment to curbing drug abuse.

In terms of law enforcement, Delhi Police registered 1,674 NDPS cases in 2025 (up to 15 September), resulting in the arrest of 2,163 drug traffickers. Financial investigations have led to the seizure of assets worth over ₹21.5 crore, with additional assets of ₹5 crore under final investigation. Detention orders under the PITNDPS Act were issued against four traffickers, with proposals under process against 32 repeat offenders.
LG Delhi, Vinai Kumar Saxena, lauded the police for their strict action against drug traffickers and inaugurated the event under the slogan: “Ravan Dahan Se Pehle, Madak Padarthon Ka Dahan.”
CP Delhi, Satish Golchha, reaffirmed the department’s dedication to eradicating drug abuse and spreading awareness among citizens. The event also highlighted the MANAS Portal, launched by NCB, allowing the public to anonymously report narcotics offenses 24×7 via helpline 1933, with the option to claim rewards.

Delhi Police urged citizens to unite in making the city safer and healthier, emphasizing key messages such as “Say No to Drugs, Yes to Life” and “Together We Can Stop Addiction.” This mega destruction drive underscores the city’s zero-tolerance policy towards drugs and the collective effort required to make Delhi a drug-free capital by 2027.
