Digvijay Chautala criticizes Haryana govt over Lado Laxmi Scheme, calls conditions a mockery of women

JJP leader demands removal of Rs.1 lakh income limit, highlights that only 5 lakh women deemed eligible out of 35 lakh deserving, and urges pension hike to Rs.5,100 from Rs.3,200.

Delhi: The Jananayak Janata Party (JJP) has raised strong objections to BJP-led Haryana government’s Lado Laxmi Scheme, calling it a blatant mockery of the state’s women. The controversy centers on the scheme’s income criterion, which restricts eligibility to women with an annual income below Rs.1 lakh. JJP Youth State President Digvijay Singh Chautala questioned Deputy Chief Minister Naib Saini, asking whether the government considers individuals earning just over Rs.1 lakh as rich, while the real poor daily wage laborers, rickshaw pullers, and street vendors remain excluded. Chautala described the scheme as a failure, noting that although over 35 lakh women in Haryana qualify, the government recognizes only about 5 lakh as eligible. Chautala further criticized unnecessary conditions like PAN cards, motorcycle ownership, and wage slips, calling them obstacles that burden women. He added that the government could have conducted surveys and implemented the scheme without these restrictive rules. On pensions, Chautala took aim at statements by Central Minister Manohar Lal, who announced a Rs.3,200 pension, demanding instead that the government provide Rs.5,100 to the elderly and ensure they are not deceived with lower amounts.
