Lucknow,- The Uttar Pradesh government has issued the academic calendar for the 2025–26 session for all state universities and their affiliated colleges. As per the official order released on Monday, the academic year will commence on July 21, 2025, for ongoing students (3rd and 5th semesters), while first-semester classes will begin from July 26, 2025.
The order, issued by M.P. Agarwal, Principal Secretary of Higher Education, mandates that all admissions must be completed by July 24, with final closure by July 26. A one-week induction program, in accordance with UGC guidelines, will be held from July 26 to July 30 to familiarize new students with academic life.
The government has directed all institutions to implement the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 in all courses, except for law and medicine. Universities and colleges are also instructed to prepare and upload their annual activity calendars on their websites, which will guide curricular and extracurricular activities throughout the academic session.
To ensure academic rigor and timely progress, institutions have been advised to begin evaluation simultaneously with examinations and complete it within one week after the exams conclude. In cases of a shortage of teaching days, colleges must arrange additional offline or online classes without affecting ongoing teaching.
Odd Semester Exams: November 11 – December 10, 2025
Even Semester & Annual Exams: April 11 – May 10, 2026
No mid-term/internal exams will be conducted for Continuous Internal Evaluation (CIE); instead, teachers will carry out ongoing assessments based on government guidelines.
All practical exams must be live-streamed or uploaded on the institutions’ official YouTube channels to ensure transparency.
The odd semester exams will be held in descriptive mode, while the even semester exams will follow the MCQ format to expedite result processing.
Universities must map minor and skill-based courses available on the SWAYAM platform, and students can enroll and earn credits for free. The list of such courses must be uploaded on university websites. Students awaiting results from national-level exams like CUET may be allowed late admissions only if seats are available, at the discretion of the respective universities.
The academic calendar aims to streamline operations and align state education with national standards under NEP 2020. Registrars will be held accountable for any admission delays, reinforcing the government’s focus on discipline and timely implementation.
