New Delhi, June 21: To mark the 11th International Day of Yoga (IDY), a special yoga session was held at the National Media Centre in New Delhi today. The event witnessed active participation from senior officials of the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, including Secretary Sanjay Jaju, Additional Secretary Shri Prabhat, Principal Director General of the Press Information Bureau, Dhirendra Ojha, and Joint Secretary Shri Senthil Rajan, along with officers and staff members.
The session was conducted by trained yoga instructors and featured a series of asanas (yoga postures), pranayama (breathing exercises), and meditation practices, providing participants with an enriching experience of well‑being and mindfulness in the workplace. The practice aimed to highlight the role of yoga in promoting both physical health and mental clarity.

Speaking on the occasion, Shri Sanjay Jaju emphasized the spiritual significance of yoga in daily life. He stated, “Yoga brings a very spiritual experience. I practice it daily because it connects our body to our soul. It not only keeps us physically healthy but also helps purify our thoughts and maintain a balanced approach in life. Yoga guides our thinking and allows us to stay focused, making our thoughts and actions simple and sincere.”
Additional Secretary Shri Prabhat, Principal Director General Shri Dhirendra Ojha, and Joint Secretary Shri Senthil Rajan also participated in the yoga session and underscored the benefits of making yoga a daily routine. They expressed their belief that yoga is a powerful tool for reducing stress, boosting immunity, and cultivating a sense of inner peace and resilience — essential attributes for any professional environment.
The International Day of Yoga is celebrated every year on June 21, following its adoption by the United Nations General Assembly in 2014. The initiative, proposed by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, aims to raise global awareness about the benefits of yoga as a holistic practice for physical, mental, and spiritual well‑being. Since its inception, the International Day of Yoga has evolved into a global health movement, embraced by nations across continents, transcending borders, cultures, and generations.
This year’s celebrations continue to highlight yoga as a practice for achieving harmony between the body, mind, and environment — a reminder of its timeless role in promoting balance, resilience, and inner peace. At the National Media Centre, the event reaffirmed the significance of yoga as a vital part of daily life and a beacon of well‑being in an increasingly fast‑paced world.
