Kolkata : The tragic incident at RG Kar Medical College in Kolkata, where a 31-year-old trainee doctor was found brutally raped and murdered, has sparked widespread outrage and protests across the country. The crime has led to significant unrest within the medical community and beyond, with demands for a thorough investigation and stringent punishment for those responsible.
In response to the incident, Resident Doctors’ Associations (RDAs) across Delhi have organized a joint protest march scheduled for Friday, August 16, starting from Nirman Bhavan in the national capital at 2 pm. Additionally, the Delhi Medical Association (DMA) held an emergency meeting and decided to conduct a candlelight march at India Gate at 5 pm on the same day to honor the victim and call for justice.
In West Bengal, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee announced that she would lead a protest rally on Saturday, August 17, from Moulali to Dharmatala in Kolkata to demand justice for the deceased doctor.
The autopsy report revealed horrific details, indicating that the victim was sexually assaulted before being strangled and smothered to death. The report also noted multiple injuries on her body, including bleeding from her eyes, mouth, and private parts.
