New Delhi, August 6, 2024: The Indian Bureau of Mines, a subordinate office of the Ministry of Mines, is set to host a prestigious event recognizing the performance of 5-star rated mines nationwide for the year 2022-23. The Felicitation Ceremony will take place in New Delhi on August 7, 2024, and will be attended by distinguished dignitaries, stakeholders, and guests.

Union Minister of Coal & Mines, Shri G. Kishan Reddy, will be the Chief Guest, with Union Minister of State for Coal & Mines, Shri Satish Chandra Dubey, serving as the Guest of Honour. Shri V.L. Kantha Rao, Secretary, Ministry of Mines, will also grace the occasion.

The Star Rating of Mines, conceptualized in 2014-15, has been widely acclaimed within the mining community for fostering a positive and competitive environment among mine operators. The recognition by the Union Minister and national-level acknowledgment of performance have significantly motivated miners to improve their operations, benefiting both the mining industry and local communities. This program evaluates mining operations nationwide within the Sustainable Development Framework, aiming to drive inclusive growth while safeguarding social, economic, and environmental welfare for present and future generations.

During the event, 68 mines that achieved 5-star ratings during FY 2022-23 will be honored. Additionally, the Minister will launch two new modules of the Mining Tenement System (MTS) Applications: the Final Mine Closure Plan module and the Exploration Licence/Composite Licence/Prospecting Licences module.
