The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has filed a supplementary chargesheet in the land-for-jobs scam case against former Railway Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav, his son Tejashwi Yadav, and eight others. The case involves Group-D appointments made in the West Central Zone of the railways in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, during Lalu Prasad’s tenure as Railway Minister from 2004 to 2009, under the Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government.
According to the ED, these appointments were allegedly secured in exchange for land parcels gifted or transferred by the recruits to Lalu Prasad’s family or associates. The chargesheet was filed on August 6, 2024, before Special Judge Vishal Gogne, who has scheduled the matter for consideration on August 13.
The ED’s case is based on an FIR filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which initially brought the allegations to light. The supplementary chargesheet includes additional evidence and details, expanding the scope of the investigation into the alleged corruption.
