New Delhi, 23 November– In a move to simplify procedures and enhance convenience for pensioners, Northern Railway successfully organized a Digital Life Certificate Camp on November 22, 2024, at its headquarters in Baroda House, New Delhi. The initiative was conducted under the guidance of Shri Ashok Kumar Verma, General Manager, Northern Railway, and spearheaded by the Personnel Branch in collaboration with Bank of India.
The primary objective of the camp was to assist pensioners and family pensioners in submitting their mandatory Life Certificates through Face Authentication, a user-friendly digital method. As per government regulations, all pensioners and family pensioners are required to submit their Life Certificates to their respective banks every November to ensure the continuation of their pensions.
Understanding the challenges faced by many retired employees, especially senior citizens, in physically visiting banks to complete this formality, Northern Railway took the proactive step of organizing this camp. The collaboration with Bank of India ensured the availability of expert staff on-site to guide and assist pensioners in completing the process seamlessly.
During the camp, a total of 11 pensioners and family pensioners participated and successfully submitted their Digital Life Certificates. The Face Authentication technology used in the process eliminated the need for physical presence at the bank, thereby saving time and effort for the participants. This innovative approach reflects Northern Railway’s commitment to leveraging technology-driven solutions to improve the quality of service provided to its retired employees and their families.
The camp’s success lies not only in the facilitation of a digital submission process but also in the significant reduction of the physical and logistical barriers traditionally faced by pensioners. This initiative underscores Northern Railway’s focus on providing efficient, inclusive, and customer-centric services.
Speaking on the occasion, a senior railway official highlighted the importance of adapting to technological advancements to serve pensioners better. “Our pensioners have dedicated years of service to the railway system, and it is our duty to ensure that they do not face unnecessary difficulties in receiving their dues. By adopting digital solutions like Face Authentication, we are making processes faster, more reliable, and convenient,” the official remarked.
The collaboration with Bank of India proved to be instrumental, as representatives from both the bank and the railway staff were present to provide step-by-step guidance, ensuring that pensioners could complete the process without confusion or delays.
This Digital Life Certificate Camp is one among several initiatives by Northern Railway to improve the overall experience of its pensioners. By leveraging modern technologies and fostering partnerships with financial institutions, Northern Railway continues to set an example of administrative efficiency and care for its retired workforce.
This successful endeavor also signals Northern Railway’s intent to replicate such camps in other regions, making it easier for pensioners across the network to benefit from digital innovations.
