The Indian Air Force (IAF) is currently engaged in simultaneous Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) operations in both Wayanad, Kerala, and the Uttarakhand hills. In response to the recent cloudburst incident in Uttarakhand, the IAF has positioned Chinook and Mi-17V5 helicopters at Gaucher. These helicopters are actively involved in deploying National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams to the affected areas, transporting essential relief materials such as food, water, and medical supplies, and conducting search and rescue operations to locate and evacuate survivors.
In Wayanad, the IAF is also deeply involved in relief efforts following a major landslide that has caused extensive damage and resulted in a significant loss of life. The IAF’s operations in both regions highlight their critical role in disaster response, demonstrating their ability to quickly mobilize resources and provide vital assistance in the wake of natural disasters.
