Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju has strongly criticized opposition leaders, accusing them of insulting the country’s mandate. At a press conference in New Delhi, Rijiju stated that the nation expects meaningful discussions on the budget. He condemned the manner in which some opposition leaders spoke, alleging that their comments and speeches undermined the dignity of the House.

Rijiju urged opposition parties to respect the people’s mandate, echoing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s sentiment that, with elections concluded, the focus should shift to working towards a “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India) and engaging in constructive dialogue on the Union Budget. He accused opposition leaders of focusing more on politics and personal attacks rather than discussing the budget, and suggested that their actions could result in public disapproval.

The Minister emphasized that the budget is designed to advance India’s status as a major economy and includes significant allocations for infrastructure, various sectors, women, employment, and farmers. Rijiju expressed frustration that the opposition had avoided discussing these important provisions, particularly those benefiting farmers and tribal communities. He called for a civilized and sensitive debate on the budget and criticized the opposition for not addressing the budget’s provisions effectively.
