Indore– The controversial bail granted to Sonam Raghuvanshi in the high-profile honeymoon murder case has triggered strong reactions from both families, intensifying the emotional and legal conflict surrounding the case.
Sonam, accused of planning the killing of her husband Raja Raghuvanshi during their honeymoon in Meghalaya, was granted bail by a local court. The decision was reportedly based on procedural lapses in her arrest and delays in the trial.
Reacting to the development, her brother Govind said he would not support her. He clarified that his recent visit to meet her in jail was only for paperwork and not a sign of reconciliation. He also stated that she would not be allowed to return to the family home, adding that he would leave if his parents decided otherwise.
Meanwhile, the victim’s family has expressed shock and concern over the bail order. Raja’s mother reiterated her demand for an investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation, questioning how the prime accused could be granted bail in such a serious case.
The family also raised safety concerns, warning that if bail is granted to other accused — including Raj Kushwaha, Vishal, and Akash — it could pose a threat to them.
Police officials in East Khasi Hills said they respect the court’s decision but will continue to pursue the case as per law. Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem stated that the prosecution remains confident in the evidence and that the trial will continue.
The case dates back to last year when Raja Raghuvanshi went missing during a honeymoon trip, and his body was later found in a gorge in Meghalaya. The investigation led to multiple arrests, including Sonam and her alleged associates.
With legal proceedings still underway and tensions high, the case continues to attract nationwide attention.
