Palghar Murder Case, Migrant Worker Arrested After Wife Found Dead at Construction Site

Accused traced to Navi Mumbai and second wife also taken into custody as investigation continues

Palghar- Police in Palghar have arrested a migrant labourer in connection with the death of his first wife at a construction site in the Virar area. The accused was apprehended from Navi Mumbai after allegedly fleeing with his family following the incident.

According to officials, the suspect, identified as Munna Bramhadev Yadav, was tracked down by a team from Bolinj police station. His second wife has also been taken into custody as part of the ongoing investigation.

The victim, Aarti alias Sapna Kumari, was found dead at the site where the family had been residing while working as migrant labourers. Police said the accused and the victim had arrived in the area recently along with other family members for construction work.

The case came to light when the contractor noticed the accused’s absence from work and began searching for him. During the search, the victim’s body was discovered, prompting authorities to be alerted. Senior officer Suhas Bawache confirmed that a probe was launched immediately to trace the accused.

Preliminary investigation suggests that a domestic dispute preceded the incident. Police said the accused allegedly confessed to attacking the victim during an argument. However, officials emphasised that all claims are subject to verification as the investigation progresses.

Following his arrest in Navi Mumbai, the accused and his second wife were produced before a court. Meanwhile, the children accompanying them have been placed under temporary care through the juvenile justice system until relatives arrive.

Authorities have informed the accused’s family members in Bihar, who are expected to take custody of the children after completing legal formalities.

Police said further investigation is underway to establish the sequence of events and determine the extent of involvement of all individuals concerned.
