Srinagar, Mar 5, 2025: The breathtaking ski resort of Gulmarg in Jammu and Kashmir is set to host the second phase of the Khelo India Winter Games 2025 (KIWG) from March 9 to 12.
Initially planned for February 22 to 25, the event was postponed due to inadequate snowfall. However, recent heavy snowfall has transformed Gulmarg into an ideal setting for the much-awaited winter sports competition.
“Gulmarg is all set! With fresh snowfall and full preparations in place, the J&K administration and Sports Council are ready to host the second leg of #KIWG2025 from March 9 to 12. A world-class winter sports experience is on the horizon!,” stated the J&K Sports Council.
More than 1,000 athletes, coaches, and officials are expected to participate in the thrilling snow sports competitions, which include ski mountaineering, alpine skiing, snowboarding, and Nordic skiing.
The first leg of the Khelo India Winter Games 2025 took place in Ladakh from January 23 to 27 at the NDS Stadium in Leh. Ladakh emerged as the top performer on the medal tally, while the Indian Army continued its dominance in men’s ice hockey.
With Gulmarg now blanketed in fresh snow, excitement is building for an action-packed edition of the KIWG 2025, showcasing India’s growing prowess in winter sports.
