7.63 pc voting in first two hours in Baramulla

Srinagar, May 20 , 2024 : An estimated 7.63 percent of 17.32 lakh voters exercised their franchise during the first two hours of polling for the Baramulla Parliamentary seat on Monday during the fifth phase of Lok Sabha elections. An official spokesman said that 7.63 percent votes were polled till 9 am on the Baramulla Lok Sabha seat. The highest number of 10.18 percent votes were polled at Trehgam Segment of the constituency followed by 10.5 percent at Langate and 9.99 percent at Beerwah. The lowest polling was registered at 6.43 percent in Pattan followed by 6.57 at Karnah and 6.73 at Gulmarg till 9 am. Similarly 7.80 percent votes were polled at Baramulla, 8.36 at Budgam, 7.16 at Gurez, 7.79 at Handwara, 7.26 at Kupwara, 9.37 at Lolab, 7.35 at Sonawari, 6.82 at Uri and 8.73 at WagooraKreeri. The voters will decide the fate of the 22 candidates who are in the fray for the Baramulla Lok Sabha Seat and among them the prominent are National Conference Vice president and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Peoples Conference Chairman Sajad Lone, Peoples Democratic Party candidate Fayaz Mir and jailed Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) chief Abddul Rashid Sheikh alias Engineer Rsahid who is contesting as an Independent candidate from the prestigious seat.
