The India Meteorological Department has placed Mumbai under a yellow alert on Friday, warning residents of persistently hot and humid conditions across the city. The advisory indicates rising discomfort levels due to increasing moisture in the air, with temperatures expected to climb to around 35°C during the day.
According to the latest forecast, the city recorded a maximum temperature of approximately 31.5°C, while the minimum hovered close to 26°C. Humidity levels remained moderate at around 51%, contributing to the sticky weather conditions. Wind speeds were recorded at about 51 km/h, offering only limited relief from the heat. The sun rose at 6:19 AM and is expected to set at 6:56 PM.
Weather conditions are likely to remain similar on Saturday, with temperatures forecast to range between roughly 29°C and 32°C, along with slightly higher humidity levels. The continued combination of heat and moisture is expected to keep conditions uncomfortable, especially during peak afternoon hours.
Air quality in the city remains within acceptable limits, with the Air Quality Index (AQI) recorded at 95, which falls under the ‘satisfactory’ category. While most people can carry out normal outdoor activities, those with respiratory conditions are advised to take precautions.
Authorities have advised residents to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, and plan outdoor activities carefully in view of the prevailing weather conditions.
