Ludhiana Police Arrest Three More for Sheltering Accused in Payal Firing Case

Crackdown intensifies as network aiding shooters after April 14 incident comes under scanner

Ludhiana- Khanna police in Ludhiana have arrested three additional individuals for allegedly providing shelter to the accused involved in the Payal grain market firing case, taking the total number of arrests in the case to seven. One of the suspects remains absconding, officials said on Wednesday.

According to police, the arrested individuals allegedly helped the main accused hide after the firing incident that took place on April 14 and assisted them in evading arrest. The three accused have been identified as residents of Paddi village in Dehlon tehsil and Bandevala village in Ropar district.

Investigators revealed that one of the arrested persons was already facing multiple criminal cases, while another was out on parole in a murder-related case at the time of the incident. Authorities said their role involved offering logistical support and temporary shelter to those directly involved in the shooting.

Senior police officials stated that the arrests are part of a broader crackdown on organised criminal networks operating in the region. Multiple specialised units, including CIA staff and district police teams, have been working in coordination to track down individuals connected to the case.

Earlier, police had arrested the main shooter along with his associates and a cab driver allegedly linked to the escape plan. Investigations also point towards involvement of individuals operating from abroad, who are suspected of planning and coordinating the attack.

Police have confirmed that further investigation is ongoing to uncover the full network behind the incident.
