Gurugram demolition drive to expand across 29 HSVP sectors from April 27

Authorities warn residents to clear encroachments as multi-team operation rolls out in phases

Gurugram: The Haryana Shahari Vikas Pradhikaran (HSVP) will begin a large anti-encroachment drive across several sectors in Gurugram starting April 27, officials said.

The drive will cover sectors 1 to 57 and will target illegal structures on public land and internal roads. Residents and property owners have been asked to remove encroachments voluntarily before the operation starts.

The action comes after a recent demolition campaign conducted by the Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP), showing a broader effort to clear public spaces in the city.

Officials said multiple teams have been formed to carry out the operation in stages. Estate officer-2, Anupama Malik, said five teams will handle specific sectors, while additional teams under estate officer-1 will manage other areas.

The drive will focus on removing illegal constructions such as extended ramps, roadside kiosks, kitchen gardens, potted plants placed on roads, and other structures blocking public movement. Authorities have warned that strict action will be taken against violations.

The first phase will begin in selected sectors later this month, followed by additional phases in early May. Officials also said that inspections will include checking misuse of stilt floors in residential buildings, and notices will be issued if any violations are found.

Estate officer-1 Rakesh Saini said surveys will be conducted along with the demolition drive to identify properties that do not follow occupancy rules, adding that action will be taken if violations are confirmed.

The initiative is part of ongoing efforts to improve urban infrastructure and ensure roads and public spaces remain accessible for all.
