Fly91 Hyderabad–Hubballi Flight Diverted After Hours in Air Due to Bad Weather, Lands Safely in Bengaluru

Aircraft circled for nearly four hours before being redirected as poor visibility blocked landing in Hubballi; all 22 passengers safe after precautionary diversion.

Hyderabad: A Fly91 passenger flight operating from Hyderabad to Hubballi experienced extended delays in the air on account of adverse weather conditions, leading to tense moments onboard as the aircraft remained airborne far beyond its scheduled journey time.

The flight, which normally completes the route in about 90 minutes, was forced to enter a holding pattern and continue circling for several hours as weather over Hubballi did not permit a safe landing. During this period, passengers reportedly grew anxious as the aircraft stayed in the air for nearly four hours.

When conditions failed to improve, the crew made the decision to divert the aircraft to Bengaluru as a precautionary safety measure. The flight subsequently landed safely at the Kempegowda International Airport, with all 22 passengers and crew members reported to be unharmed.

Footage shared on social media showed passengers visibly distressed inside the cabin, with some seen praying and others reacting emotionally as the delay continued. Despite the tension onboard, the flight crew maintained communication with passengers and assured them of their safety throughout the situation.

n recordings from inside the cabin, the pilot can be heard explaining that landing attempts would not be made unless weather conditions improved, emphasizing that passenger safety remained the top priority. The crew also informed passengers that diverting to an alternate airport was the safest option under the circumstances.

According to aviation sources, the aircraft had taken off from Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport around 3 pm and was expected to land in Hubballi by approximately 4:30 pm. However, unfavorable weather conditions prevented the scheduled landing.

After holding in the airspace near Hubballi for an extended period, the aircraft was eventually redirected to Bengaluru, where it touched down safely around 6:30 pm. Officials later confirmed that the aircraft resumed operations to Hubballi later in the night once weather conditions improved.

The airline clarified that reports suggesting any technical malfunction were incorrect, stating that the diversion and airborne holding pattern were standard operational procedures followed during severe weather conditions. Aviation officials also reiterated that such decisions are routinely made by pilots to ensure passenger safety when landing conditions are not suitable.

The airline further noted that its operational teams, including pilots and cabin crew, are trained to handle such disruptions and maintain safety standards in challenging flying conditions.
