The reunion of Akshay Kumar and filmmaker Priyadarshan with their latest horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla has created significant buzz ahead of its theatrical release, and early trade estimates suggest the film is poised for a strong opening at the box office. The film has generated notable traction in advance bookings, an area where horror-comedies typically do not see massive numbers, indicating heightened audience curiosity around the project.
According to early booking trends, Bhooth Bangla sold more than 1.3 lakh tickets prior to release, contributing roughly ₹3.3 crore in gross advance sales. In addition to this, the makers opted for paid preview shows on the evening before release, a strategy that has gained popularity in recent months. These limited shows performed well, bringing in an estimated ₹3.5 crore, further strengthening the film’s overall opening prospects.
Based on current trends, trade analysts project that the film could collect between ₹12 crore and ₹14 crore net on its first official day in India. When combined with preview earnings, the total opening is expected to reach approximately ₹15–17 crore, placing it among the stronger Bollywood openings of the year. The film’s performance is also likely to position it ahead of several notable titles in the horror-comedy genre, including Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2, Stree, and Bhediya in terms of opening day collections.
However, despite the promising start, Bhooth Bangla may not surpass the higher benchmarks set by bigger recent releases like Stree 2 and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3, both of which recorded significantly larger openings. Still, the current projections highlight a solid comeback for the Akshay Kumar–Priyadarshan duo, whose past collaborations have been widely appreciated by audiences.
Going forward, the film’s box office trajectory will depend heavily on audience reception and word-of-mouth over the weekend. If initial reactions remain positive, Bhooth Bangla could maintain steady growth and emerge as a successful addition to the horror-comedy genre in Bollywood.
