Gold Prices Slip Near ₹1.53 Lakh Amid Global Tensions

24K gold declines across major cities; silver shows slight upward trend in domestic markets

Gold prices in India witnessed a decline on Friday, reflecting global market pressures and geopolitical uncertainty. The price of 24-carat gold fell by ₹268 to ₹15,309 per gram, bringing the rate close to ₹1.53 lakh per 10 grams. The 22-carat variant also registered a drop, indicating a broader softening trend in bullion prices.

In Delhi, gold was priced at around ₹1,53,092 per 10 grams, slightly lower than the previous day. Silver, however, showed a marginal increase, trading near ₹2.50 lakh per kilogram in the national capital. Market trends over the past week indicate a mild dip in gold prices, while the monthly trend reflects a more noticeable correction.

In Mumbai, gold prices were recorded at approximately ₹1,53,252 per 10 grams, while silver hovered around ₹2.50 lakh per kilogram. Similar trends were observed in Chennai, where gold stood at about ₹1,54,503 per 10 grams, with silver trading above ₹2.52 lakh per kilogram.

Meanwhile, in Kolkata, gold prices were slightly higher at around ₹1,54,354 per 10 grams, while silver was priced near ₹2.52 lakh per kilogram. Across all major metros, bullion rates reflected minor day-to-day fluctuations but remained under pressure compared to earlier weeks.

On the futures front, gold contracts on the Multi Commodity Exchange showed a slight dip, with June 2026 contracts trading close to ₹1,53,077 per 10 grams. Silver futures for July 2026, however, edged higher, indicating mixed sentiment in the commodities market.

Analysts attribute the recent decline in gold prices to multiple global factors, including currency movements, interest rate outlook, and ongoing geopolitical developments. As a safe-haven asset, gold often reacts to uncertainty, but short-term corrections are influenced by profit booking and shifts in investor sentiment.
