Amit Shah To Hold Discussions With Kukis And Meiteis To Resolve Ethnic Conflicts In Manipur

Chairing a high-level meeting in New Delhi to review the security situation in Manipur, Union Home Minister Amit Shah affirmed the Central government’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens. He emphasized the Ministry of Home Affairs’ initiative to engage with both the Meiteis and Kukis to foster ethnic harmony, stressing the strategic deployment of central forces to restore peace and tranquility in the region. Shah underscored that the deployment of forces would be increased as necessary and directed strict legal action against those responsible for violence. He highlighted the active support provided by the central government to strengthen security measures in Manipur.

In addition, the Home Minister personally reviewed conditions in relief camps, emphasizing the availability of essential supplies such as food, water, and medicines. He instructed the Manipur Chief Secretary to ensure adequate health and education facilities for displaced individuals and their rehabilitation.

The meeting was attended by Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla, Intelligence Bureau Chief Tapan Deka, Chief of Army Staff General Manoj Pandey, Chief of Army Staff (Designate) General Upendra Dwivedi, Manipur DGP Rajiv Singh, and other senior officials, reflecting the comprehensive approach taken to address the security and humanitarian challenges in Manipur.
