CM Rekha Gupta launches organ donation campaign, takes pledge to donate organs

New Delhi – As part of the ‘Seva Sankalp Abhiyan’, being organised from September 17 to October 17 to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi ‘s birthday, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Thursday launched an organ donation pledge campaign. The initiative aims to promote organ donation, strengthen transplant services and encourage citizens to pledge to donate their organs. The Chief Minister herself pledged to donate her organs and filled out the pledge form.

The Delhi Government’s Department of Health and Family Welfare organised an event at the Delhi Secretariat on the occasion, where an online portal was launched. Through the portal, citizens of Delhi can join the organ donation pledge campaign online and take a pledge to donate their organs. The Delhi Government has made the portal available at https://cfwcst.delhi.gov.in/dhb/OrganTissuePledge.aspx. After registering on the portal, a digital pledge certificate is generated automatically, which citizens can download.

On the occasion, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said organ donation reflects the true spirit of Seva Sankalp. One person’s generous and noble pledge can save several lives. She appealed to the people of Delhi to actively participate in the campaign and take a pledge to donate their organs. She said the organ donation campaign has the potential not only to offer a new hope to patients waiting for transplants but also to give a new direction to the cause of organ donation in society. With active participation from citizens, organ donation can be turned into a people-driven movement.

SOTTO made operational at G.B. Pant Hospital

To ensure better coordination of organ donation and organ and tissue transplantation, and to promote organ and tissue donation, the Delhi Government has also made the State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (SOTTO) operational at G.B. Pant Hospital. This will strengthen the coordination and promotion of activities related to organ and tissue donation in Delhi. Under the organ donation pledge campaign, various channels will be used to reach out to citizens in keeping with the spirit of the Seva Sankalp Abhiyan. These include digital platforms, awareness campaigns, educational institutions, healthcare facilities and community-level activities. The initiative aims to take organ donation beyond mere awareness and turn it into a people-driven movement, encouraging more citizens to come forward and contribute to this life-saving cause.

Delhi Health Minister Dr Pankaj Kumar Singh said that a dedicated Organ Donation Pledge Portal has been launched in Delhi under the Seva Pakhwada, with the aim of making the organ donation process more accessible and ensuring greater public participation. He said it was a matter of pride that Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta Ji herself took the pledge to donate her organs and became the first person to register on the SOTTO website, setting an inspiring example for the people of Delhi. With SOTTO becoming operational at G.B. Pant Hospital, coordination and promotion of organ and tissue donation in Delhi is being further strengthened. The Health Minister appealed to all citizens to come forward, take the pledge to donate their organs and become part of this noble initiative.
