Piyush Goyal Meets Brazil, Egypt Ministers at BRICS India 2026, Focuses on Boosting Trade and Investment

Jaipur, August 7: Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal held separate bilateral discussions with senior ministers from Brazil and Egypt during the BRICS India 2026 Trade and Industry Ministers’ Meeting in Jaipur, reaffirming India’s commitment to expanding economic partnerships with both countries.

During his meeting with Brazil’s Minister of Development, Industry, Trade and Services, Márcio Fernando Elias Rosa, Goyal reviewed the current state of India-Brazil economic ties and explored new opportunities for collaboration. The discussions covered key sectors such as agriculture, renewable energy, pharmaceuticals and investment, with both sides expressing interest in strengthening long-term trade relations.

In another bilateral engagement, Goyal met Egypt’s Minister of Industry, Khaled Hashem Ali Maher, where the two leaders discussed measures to enhance commercial cooperation and identify new areas for industrial collaboration. The talks focused on leveraging the complementary strengths of both economies to expand business and investment opportunities.

The meetings were held alongside the Tenth BRICS Industry Ministers’ Meeting, hosted by India under its BRICS Chairship 2026 in Jaipur. The ministerial gathering centred on the theme “Building for Resilience, Innovation, Cooperation and Sustainability”, bringing together representatives from BRICS nations to deliberate on industrial development, technological innovation and sustainable economic growth.

A major outcome of the meeting was the adoption of the Joint Declaration of the Tenth BRICS Industry Ministers’ Meeting, underscoring the member nations’ commitment to translating policy discussions into concrete collaborative initiatives.

India also presented significant progress achieved under the Partnership on New Industrial Revolution (PartNIR). These included the completion of a cooperation framework for the SME Working Group, approval of the Terms of Reference and Action Plan for the Photovoltaic Industry Working Group, and an innovation-focused action plan aimed at promoting startup ecosystems across BRICS countries.

India is also scheduled to host the 16th BRICS Trade Ministers’ Meeting in Jaipur on August 7, where member nations are expected to deliberate on strengthening the multilateral trading system, building resilient supply chains, enhancing MSME participation in global commerce and advancing digital economic cooperation.
