Mission SAMarth Launched in Rewari’s Nahar Block to Combat Malnutrition Among Children

Rewari, 05 August: Under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner Abhishek Meena, Mission SAMarth was launched on Wednesday in the Aspirational Block Nahar by Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Rahul Modi. The programme brought together children identified with Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) as per the May 2026 assessment, along with their parents. Anganwadi Workers, ASHA Workers, and village Sarpanches from the concerned villages also participated in the event.

During the programme, ADC Rahul Modi interacted with the parents of SAM children and explained various measures to prevent malnutrition. He informed them about the facilities being provided by the department, including double ration support for SAM children, monthly height and weight monitoring at Anganwadi Centres, and regular health follow-up. He emphasized that the objective of Mission SAMarth is to ensure that every child suffering from Severe Acute Malnutrition receives timely care, adequate nutrition, and continuous monitoring to support healthy growth and development.

He further stated that Mission SAMarth reflects the collective commitment of the administration to ensure that every child in Nahar Block receives the nutrition, care, and support necessary for a healthy and brighter future.

As part of the initiative, the Women and Child Development Department introduced specially prepared nutritious local recipes—Churma and Bankli—for SAM and underweight children. ADC Rahul Modi personally fed these recipes to severely malnourished children. A Godh Bharai (traditional baby shower) ceremony for pregnant women was also organized by ADC Rahul Modi and SDM Vijay Kumar Yadav.

SDM Vijay Kumar Yadav said that the district administration is taking all necessary measures to make Nahar Block free from malnutrition and to improve the health of severely malnourished children. He informed that all identified SAM children have been adopted by block-level officers for close monitoring and support until their nutritional status improves. CMGGA (Chief Minister’s Good Governance Associate) Nancy also addressed the gathering and shared awareness about improving the health and nutrition of severely malnourished children.

Among those present were BDPO Nahar Anil Yadav, Jaibir from CHC Nahar, Sarpanch Inderjeet (Jharoda), Sarpanch Kiran Devi (Koharad), CDPO Kamlesh, Supervisors Pinky Sharma, Uganta, Neetu Yadav, Updesh, Santosh, Assistant Priyanka Yadav, Clerk Rahul Mehra, and other officials.

Key Initiatives under Mission SAMarth
Regular Monitoring of SAM Children All identified SAM children will undergo regular height and weight monitoring to track their nutritional status and ensure their timely recovery to the healthy (green) category.

Convergence of Health and Women & Child Development Departments Anganwadi Workers and ASHA Workers will conduct regular home visits and counselling sessions with mothers and family members to raise awareness about the seriousness of Severe Acute Malnutrition and the importance of proper nutrition.

Promotion of Exclusive Breastfeeding Mothers of infants aged 0–6 months will be counselled on the importance of exclusive breastfeeding to ensure healthy growth and strengthen immunity.

Monitoring of Micronutrients and Supplementary Nutrition ASHA Workers will ensure the timely provision of micronutrients and multivitamin supplements to SAM children and monitor their regular intake.

Community Participation through Panchayats Panchayat representatives will adopt identified SAM children, regularly review their progress, and motivate families to provide nutritious food and proper care.

Timely Nutritional Support Additional Take-Home Ration (THR) will be provided under the Supplementary Nutrition Programme (SNP). Nutritious local foods such as Churma and Bankli will also be supplied to support the recovery of malnourished children.
