Vipul Goel Highlights Haryana’s Sporting Success at Bharat Mandapam Expo

Urban Local Bodies Minister says CM Nayab Singh Saini's vision and state's sports policy are creating a strong ecosystem for athletes

New Delhi, Aug. 1, 2026: Haryana Urban Local Bodies Minister Vipul Goel on Saturday said the state’s progressive sports policy and the vision of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini have transformed Haryana into one of India’s leading sporting hubs, helping athletes achieve success at national and international levels.

Addressing the Sports, Fitness and Infrastructure Expo at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi, Goel said Haryana, once known primarily as a state of soldiers and farmers, is now equally recognised for producing outstanding athletes. Calling Haryana “a mine of medals,” he said the government’s athlete-centric policies have created a favourable environment for sports and are shaping a brighter future for the state’s youth.

Sports Minister Gaurav Gautam was also present at the event.

During his visit, Goel toured the Haryana Pavilion and interacted with officials, coaches and athletes. He reviewed exhibits showcasing the achievements of Haryana’s sportspersons and appreciated the pavilion for effectively highlighting the state’s sporting accomplishments and policies before visitors from across the country.

The minister noted that despite accounting for only about two per cent of India’s geographical area, Haryana continues to lead the nation in winning medals. He credited this achievement to the leadership of Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and the state’s well-structured sports policy, which focuses on nurturing talent and providing athletes with the resources they need to excel.

Reiterating the government’s commitment to the sporting community, Goel assured athletes that they should concentrate on their performance while the government continues to strengthen sports infrastructure by building stadiums, providing modern equipment and recognising excellence through awards and incentives.

He also praised Haryana’s athletes for their performances in international competitions and encouraged them to continue bringing laurels to both the state and the nation.

Deputy Director of the Sports Department’s Rohtak Division Sunita Khatri, Sonipat District Sports Officer Manoj Kumar, coaches, officials and athletes also attended the event.
