President Droupadi Murmu Calls for Inclusive Tribal Development, Inaugurates National Conclave in New Delhi

New Delhi, June 3: President of India Droupadi Murmu on Wednesday inaugurated the National Conclave on Strengthening of Integrated Tribal Development Agencies (ITDAs) and Integrated Tribal Development Projects (ITDPs), emphasizing that the holistic development of tribal communities is essential for ensuring inclusive growth and achieving the vision of a developed India by 2047.

The conclave, held in New Delhi, brought together officials and stakeholders involved in implementing tribal welfare and development initiatives across the country.

On the occasion, the President also virtually inaugurated a state-of-the-art Training Fab at the Centre for Nano Science and Engineering, Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bengaluru, along with 75 Space Labs established in Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) across the country.

Addressing the gathering, President Murmu described the participants as “agents of change” for tribal communities and urged them to ensure that government welfare schemes and development programmes reach every tribal household. She said the collective efforts of officials working at state, district and project levels could bring meaningful transformation to the lives of tribal families.

The President stressed that every policy document and project file should ultimately serve the welfare of people. She called upon stakeholders to focus on ensuring proper nutrition for pregnant women, quality education for tribal children, dignified livelihood opportunities for tribal youth and effective delivery of welfare benefits to every tribal family.

Highlighting the importance of preserving tribal heritage, she expressed satisfaction that development initiatives are being implemented alongside efforts to protect and promote the rich cultural traditions and indigenous knowledge systems of tribal communities.

President Murmu also underscored the critical role of education in social and economic progress. She urged all concerned agencies to strengthen efforts towards education and skill development among tribal youth and children. Noting the progress made in this direction, she said nearly 500 Eklavya Model Residential Schools have already been established across India to improve educational access in tribal regions.

The President said the country’s journey towards becoming a “Viksit Bharat” by 2047 cannot be complete without the comprehensive development of tribal communities. She noted that empowering tribal populations would add a strong dimension of inclusivity to India’s growth story.

Expressing confidence in the outcome of the conclave, President Murmu said the discussions, recommendations and roadmap emerging from the event would help translate tribal development policies into concrete action on the ground and ensure that the benefits of government schemes reach every eligible beneficiary.
