Twisha Sharma Death Case CBI investigation in Bhopal

Bhopal, June 1: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday intensified its probe into the death of 33-year-old Twisha Sharma by conducting a detailed reconstruction of the alleged crime scene at the residence of the accused in Bhopal.

Investigators visited the home of former district judge Giribala Singh and carried out a crime scene recreation exercise using a dummy body as part of efforts to verify facts and gather additional evidence. The exercise was conducted in the presence of accused Giribala Singh and her son, Samarth Singh.

The case has attracted widespread attention following allegations by Twisha Sharma’s family that she was subjected to dowry-related harassment and mental cruelty after her marriage in December 2025. Twisha died in Bhopal on May 12, prompting demands for a thorough investigation and justice for the victim.

Public support for the family continues to grow. A silent protest was recently organised in Noida, where Twisha’s family and supporters gathered to seek accountability and raise awareness about alleged dowry-related violence.

Speaking during the event, Twisha’s brother, Major Harshit Sharma, expressed confidence in the ongoing investigation and thanked members of the public for their support. He said the case had become a larger fight against injustice and reflected the solidarity shown by people from different walks of life.

The investigation is being carried out under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, along with relevant sections of the Dowry Prohibition Act. The allegations include mental harassment and demands for dowry by the victim’s husband and in-laws.

Last week, Twisha’s ashes were immersed in the Ganga at Rishikesh. Her family said she shared a deep emotional connection with the holy city and the river.

Meanwhile, a Bhopal court has granted the CBI custody of Giribala Singh and Samarth Singh for further questioning. Both accused were remanded to the agency for five days, allowing investigators to examine evidence, reconstruct events, and verify statements connected to the case.

The probe continues as the CBI seeks to establish the circumstances surrounding Twisha Sharma’s death and determine whether the allegations of dowry harassment and cruelty are supported by evidence.
