Lucknow, May 7, 2026:Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath formally launched the first phase of Census 2027 in Lucknow on Thursday, marking the beginning of the state’s large scale population data collection and housing enumeration exercise.
Under the initial phase, citizens will be able to complete house listing and housing census details through online self enumeration from May 7 to May 21, 2026. This will be followed by field verification and physical data collection from May 22 to June 20, 2026.
Addressing the launch event, the Chief Minister said that census is not merely a population counting exercise but a crucial foundation for comprehensive, inclusive and well planned development. He emphasized that accurate census data plays a key role in shaping welfare policies, governance frameworks and future development strategies.
Yogi Adityanath urged residents across the state to actively participate in the process by providing correct and factual information. He also extended his best wishes to all officials, staff members and citizens associated with the successful implementation of the census programme.
The Census 2027 initiative is expected to serve as a major administrative tool for policy planning, infrastructure development and social welfare schemes across Uttar Pradesh.
